Tide Knot Cottage

Summary

Tucked away in a quiet cobbled pedestrian lane, Tide Knot Cottage is a super cute renovated cottage with its white washed walls and characterful features is perfect for a couple or small family. Lots of charming features remain after a thoughtful renovation of this former fisherman’s cottage.

In true Cornish character this cottage is unconventional and includes a narrow and fairly steep staircase and parking isn’t available outside and is a couple of minutes walk down the road.

Cute characterful cottage..

The front living room with its lime washed exposed granite walls has cosy seating for 4. With TV, wood burning stove this makes for a restful space after a busy day exploring Newlyn and beyond, with its cosy window seat and sash windows.

Tide Knot Cottage's traditional staircase takes you upto the first floor. The front bedroom overlooking the quiet cobbled street has 2 single beds, original panelled walls and inbuilt storage wardrobe and feature fireplace (not for use). A newly refurbished shower room with WC and sink with porthole window is located in between the 2 bedrooms.

The master bedroom has a double bed with a free standing slipper bath also in the room! Exposed chimney breast and traditional floor boards make this bedroom a real treat!

A perfect place..

Home of one of the UK's largest fishing fleets Newlyn has fresh fish shops, bakery, butchers, greengrocers, cheese shop, cafes and restaurants provide a wonderful choice of local produce for you to enjoy. A local film house, galleries and of course the home of Newlyn Art are all on the door step to explore.

Charming little cottage, tucked away down a cobbled street, away from the bustle of the centre but a 2 mins walk away from everything. We had everything we needed, including cooking utensils and essentials. The wood burning fire and free standing bath made the stay feel very luxurious. Newlyn is a lovely place to stay, with galleries, lots of high standard food options, multiple beautiful coastal walks seconds away, an independent cinema, and lots of recommendations provided by Lisa. The stay was seamless and easy, with no problems arising, and Lisa responding to any messages particularly quickly. Lisa made an effort to accomodate any of my additional requests happily, which was much appreciated. One of my nicest experiences. I'd highly recommend a stay here to anyone - either alone or with a couple of friends (I did both). I felt safe and secure as a single woman travelling solo. I'll definitely be coming back again in the future!

Jamila

Tide Knot Cottage is in great location. It’s in the center of Newlyn yards from the bus stop with easy access to Penzance and Mousehole. The place is very clean and loads of character! Highly recommended!

Joy

Fabulous, peaceful cottage in the heart of historic Newlyn. Simple, straightforward decor and spotlessly clean. Everything provided for a comfortable stay.
Easy, flat walking to town centre within minutes of restaurants, cafes, pubs and the working harbour. Fish food lovers paradise!
Five star host was responsive and helpful.
Overall, a gem of a place to stay.

Veronica

We loved our stay in this little cottage - so charming and full of character. Recently renovated and sparkling clean. Linens were very new and fresh and were changed for us in the middle of our three-week stay. So nice! We appreciated the welcome gingerbread cookies, coffee, tea, and milk. Perfect location: groceries, bakeries, a pub, a cafe, and a couple of restaurants were all a quick walk away. We also loved the proximity to several bus stops, and found the bus system very easy (we highly recommend the First Bus app). Lisa was incredibly responsive, friendly, and easy to communicate with when we needed anything and she immediately addressed any concerns, which were minor (e.g., pot with a lid, etc.). It's a terrific choice for a short-term stay. For our longer stay of a few weeks, the main downsides were weak wifi and limited clothing-storage options. Otherwise, we highly recommend this adorable and cozy cottage and we would love to return.

Laura

A simply lovely few days in a magical part of the world. Newlyn is a working commercial town and so off the regular tourist track.
The cottage was perfect for us and Lisa’s service first class.
Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Mike

This is a beautiful little cottage in a great location. We booked it for our mini moon and we had the best week, it was just what we wanted cosy and warm. The Bridge restaurant and local fish and chip shop are great. We will be back.

Wayne

Great place to stay in Newlyn. Comfortable beds, fluffy towels, decent WiFi, great shower, and a French Press. Comfortable furniture for lounging.

Jeff

Lovely property with lots of character; in a great location that is not too far from anything, but silent at night! Myself and my children really enjoyed our stay.

Paul

Cozy cottage in the heart of Newlyn on an idyllic Cornish cobbled street. Perfect sized place for the three of us to fit comfortably. Very clean and well equipped place with a TV and great Wifi. Car parking was close and convenient and the town had many great things to see and places to eat.

Beach front apartment..

A rare find apartment in the most enviable location in St Ives. The entrance through the hidden door of the slipway onto Porthmeor Beach is certainly the beginning of your complete getaway from it all.

Once inside the small courtyard we have a private entrance into Seawall Court apartments, only 4 in total. Located on the first floor of the building this wonderful apartment certainly has the WOW factor with this incredible view.

Arriving into the hallway of the apartment you will find the bedroom on your left, now with king size bed, plenty of storage space, cupboards and drawers. Next door to the bedroom is the newly renovated shower room which contains a walk in shower cubicle with overhead rainfall shower head and separate shower head, loo, LED mirror over a large sink basin and cabinet.

Most of our visitors head straight to the view and the open plan living space. A spacious layout this contains a kitchen, dining table, double sofa bed and sofa as well as that incredible view.

A perfect place..

2 Seawall Court is the perfect base to explore all that St Ives has to offer with Porthmeor beach right on the door step. In the summer there are days of fun to be had on the golden sands, whilst in mid winter enjoy the drama of Atlantic swells. Porthmeor is one of only eight beaches in Cornwall that hold the prestigious Blue Flag Award 2022, given in recognition of water quality, safety, facilities, environmental management and education.

Situated in the shadow of the iconic Tate St Ives gallery, Porthmeor is a sandy, safe beach, popular with surfers and swimmers alike. It's in an ideal location just a stone’s throw from the centre of St Ives, where you’ll find shops, pubs, cafes and lots of art galleries that the town is famous for. With easy access, it’s the perfect place to spend a summers day. In winter it’s the surfers and dog walkers who make the most of the long stretch of sand, battling the waves and strong winds before a warm cup of coffee in a nearby café.

There are several surf schools operating from the beach for both beginners and those who wish to improve their technique.

The South West Coast Path leaves from the western end of the beach giving access to the headlands of Carrick Dhu and Clodgy Point, nice places for a picnic on a sunny day while you try and spot the seals.

The location of the apartment is enchanting. Just the sort of thing dreams are made of. Sea watching from the enclosed balcony is so relaxing. It is suitably located to allow access to the charming cobbled narrow streets of St Ives making every walking encounter an adventure in itself. There is also a coastal footpath around the nearby headland from where surfers can be seen enjoying their sport. The apartment is very well furnished and equipped and well maintained making it comfortable, feel homely and like "Home from Home". There is merit in staying in St Ives in the off season periods to avoid crowds. St Ives has numerous restaurants and pubs for evening entertainment and don't forget the charming local cinema. Leaving after a week made us fell like we were leaving behind a good friend. Afterthought.... Must come back here to stay again.

What can i say?...the location and views from this apartment are amazing if you love the sea
We particularly loved listening to the waves and watching sunrise and suset from the enclosed balcony.
The apartment itself was bigger than we imagined with a comfy bed and more than adequate kitchen.
The only thing to be aware of is parking at busy times...we managed to get parked up on the island car park...then left it there and used public transport to explore.
The apartment is a great location for some fabulous restaurants and bars too...perfect.
Lisa our host was fantastic with communication and cant recommended this company enough...FANTABULOUS...will be booking again soon 😀 ❤️
Jennifer

We (family of 3) stayed in this wonderful apartment in mid-August 2022. Even though we knew that the pictures are usually shot with wide angle lenses - so we expected a small room - the space is actually larger than you might think and offers everything you might need for a short beach or coast walking holiday.

After our early morning transfer from the airport, even an early-bird check-in was no problem, instructions were clear and access exactly as described. We found all rooms bright and inviting and in a very tidy and clean state, also the interior design with pictures and accessories creates a friendly atmosphere and fits the overall image. The view from the living room to beach and sea is spectacular and provided a 100% romantic sunset atmosphere every single night. The beach is virtually at your footsteps (now we know where "sandytoestays" comes from 🙂 ), and it is just a short walk to grocery store, wharfs and beaches.

Note: while we enjoyed a car(e)-free holiday, be reminded that car access and parking is limited throughout St. Ives downtown. If you come by van or motorhome, bring some skills to perform backup maneuvers in narrow spaces, since even some 90 degree turns do require moving back and forth a couple of times in very narrow streets. Walking around is a good idea.

Speaking of friendly atmosphere again, our host Lisa did an outstanding job of providing plenty of information beforehand, being available almost any time of the day for answering all our questions during our stay in the shortest time, giving lots of advice and making our stay a perfectly hosted one, though we never met in person.

Thank you Lisa (and Serena), you have been (or are) a perfect choice, 5/5 stars with a definite recommendation from us !

Sven

It is difficult to find suitable adjectives to describe how fantastic the apartment was, and the uninterrupted sea view.
This was the biggest contributing factor to my having had the best holliday for years.
I was lucky with having fabulous weather but in the event of rain,
the apartment is so well located that only a ten minute walk takes you into the town where you find lots of galleries and interesting small retailers.
I came down to St Ives on my own and I met some of the friendlyest people ever. Everyone I met was kind and helpful, particularly when it came to my constantly getting lost and needing directions.
A big thank you to Lisa for making it such a wonderful holliday from the time I arrived.
My first job on the weekend I returned home was to book for next year.

Sarah

I stayed with my husband and 4 month old baby and had a brilliant stay. The flat was clean, tidy, spacious and well equipped, and the shower and bed were great which is all you want when you go away. The floor to ceiling window gave the most spectacular view of the beach and we were able to look out onto the beach at all times of day in all weather and it was beautiful to see in all the different lights.

The flat was a bit difficult to find but it was partly our fault for not reading the instructions properly (or seeing the photos) that Lisa sent through.

The location was fab, 0 minutes from the beach, a convenience store round the corner and a few minutes walk to fore street. Would definitely stay here again!

Michelle

An excellent property in an amazing location. Overlooking the beach, the views from the property are stunning. 2 minutes from Tate and the Harbour, this is a fabulous property in St Ives. Super helpful agent which included helping us secure parking for our stay.

Roxie

Amazing apartment in a great location could not get a better view everything you could need would def recommend 😊

Keeley

Possibly the best apartment I ever stayed at! We were so pleased with the experience - from the communication to arrival, and further helpful information when we had to consider changes to our trip. The view is also the ultimate beachfront, with 270° landscape from the lounge. We enjoyed great access to shops, galleries, restaurants and scenic walks. There is great heating in winter, a cosy bathroom and lots of fridge space to bring food if you like to prepare meals at home. We never wanted to leave! Hopefully we’ll be able to book again soon ❤️🧡💛💚💙

Susan

This is the best apartment I have ever stayed in at St ives, the ocean view is spectacular and the apartment is equipped with everything we needed to make us feel right at home (including: champagne flutes, cafiettieres, a great central heating system, power shower and a welcome basket filled with goodies).Lisa and Sandy Toes thank you for your wonderful hospitality and if you do have the opportunity to stay at this fantastic apartment book it whilst you can. Thanks again.

Randeep

Brilliant property with beautiful views over the beach and ocean. The property and views are as stunning as the photos suggest. Would definitely stay again!

Rory

Just returned from a 4 night stay and already planning to go back for a week next year. Lovely apartment in a great location with a fantastic view.....feels like you are actually sitting on Porthmeor Beach. Nice bright and well furnished and equipped lounge/diner/kitchen. Car park nearby but may be a problem finding a space during busy times. Easy walk back from the town....no hills to climb!

Wow. What a magnificent cottage. Spotlessly clean, extremely private and very beautifully appointed. The hosts have not scrimped on the fit out in the slightest. Absolutely loved this place. To top it off, the Lamorna Wink pub is 50m away and only a short walk to Lamorna Cove itself.
The cottage is just perfect for couples. Would I stay again, IN A HEARTBEAT. Thank you Lisa for a wonderful stay.

Shane

Tranquil - perfect historic walled garden to relax in and eat al fresco . To be just minutes from a swim in the sea was awesome. The studio,
though compact , has everything you need and is spotless and minimalist. Lisa was on hand to answer questions when we needed. A perfect stay.

Ruth

After cutting short our holiday in Italy due to awful weather, a week at this hidden delightful cottage at Lamorna Cove in the beautiful sunshine was just what we needed! Well equipped, peaceful, private and done to a high standard. Thanks for a great stay.

Angus

What an absolute gem we found in this wee cottage! Very hidden and such a beautiful retreat- the cottage was beautifully decorated, spotless and has everything you need.

The bed was very comfortable and it was such a treat waking up to pure silence. We had glorious refreshing morning swims in the Lamorna cove followed by great coffee when the cafe in the cove opens at 10.30am.

Chris was so accommodating and welcoming to us both- we definitely will be back. Lisa was also so kind leaving us more towels and answering all our questions.

A must for couples who want to escape the hustle and bustle and really enjoy peace and tranquillity. We loved every minute of our stay in Lamorna. Definitely worth a visit! 🙂

Olivia

We had a wonderful stay at the the studio/cottage. The place was well presented with nice gardens to relax outside in the evening.

With WiFi and TV it made evenings enjoyable after cooking some dinner in the well equipment and space saving kitchen.

We highly recommend staying here and we look forward to coming again and swimming each morning in Lamorna Cove before popping into the cafe. The cottage is 10min walk to the sea and it’s a nice quiet country lane.

Kenny

This quaint cottage was the perfect location for our stay in Lamorna Cove. The cottage itself is well appointed and exceeded all expectations; we especially enjoyed dining in the private gardens. There is so much to see nearby — the cove, the public footpaths, Lamorna Pottery and it’s Garden Cafe. We look forward to returning!

A wonderful and modern property which is very spacious and well equipped. A fabulous location too with moorland one side (for excellent morning hikes) and a 20-25 minute walk into Town the other side (though a bit of a trek uphill coming back!). The only negative is the lack of garden space - only a tiny front garden with nothing at the back. Then again, who cares when you have those moors!

Andrew

We had a wonderful stay at the house. It was spacious, clean and walking distance to St Ives. Definitely the best holiday I have had in Cornwall. We visited many places from Penzance, Falmouth, St Michael Mount, Truro and The Beaches in St Ives Carbis Bay being our Favorite. Without a doubt we will be back, hopefully next year. Fantastic communication all the way through. Thank you again ladies.

Michelle

We had a very comfortable stay at this property.
Communication was great with Lisa.
There was milk in the fridge and a pack of Cornish ginger biscuits left for us which I thought was very welcoming.
The property was clean, very well presented, had everything a family would need away from home. It had all the utilities one would need.
Excellent location for us to visit the famous landmarks, as they were only a short drive away. Which was ideal as we were travelling with three children. Co-op was literally a minutes drive and there is also a Tesco supermarket in St.Ives which was very convenient.
I would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again on my next visit 🙂

Buddika

Our recent stay at 14 The Carracks in St Ives was brilliant. Lovely, dog friendly, 3 bed home at the top of the hill just outside St Ives at the beginning of a lovely road for a morning walk with views out over the Cornish countryside. The house is in immaculate condition and is kitted out with everything you might need. As lockdown had just finished and we booked relatively late, we struggled to get many dinner reservations and so tended to cook ourselves in the evenings - the kitchen isn’t missing a thing, including a nutribullet for smoothies. Having a parking space was very handy and we tended to walk down the hill into St Ives (circa 25 mins) and catch a taxi back up, leaving our car at the house rather than trying to find a carpark in the centre of town. Lisa and Serena were the perfect hosts, great communicators and reverted very promptly - usually within 30 mins or so - to any questions. Overall, can’t recommend the house highly enough and we hope to return one day soon.

Andrea

The house was to an excellent and modern standard in all aspects, and was spotless when we arrived. The location was absolutely perfect for what we required, and our break was enhanced by knowing we would return each evening to the house. The house location to St Ives was excellent, with Penzance and Marazion a very short drive away. Sandy Toes certainly provided us with what we expected, and it exceeded our expectation. We will certainly book this property again without hesitation. Thank you, it was much appreciated.

Paul

A great place to stay in Cornwall!

The Location - It's very close to St. Ives (~20 min walk downhill). Short drive to the west/south coasts of Cornwall. Easily accessible by car. There's a Co-op 1 minute away by car.

The Place - It was super clean when we arrived. It's quite spacious. It's fitted out with modern furniture. The beds are really comfortable (the bunk bed not so much, but it's not too bad). The kitchen is fully fitted with modern appliances and has all the tools/utensils you'd need. It has a nice front patio. Fits one car, but can park a second car on the street opposite. Two out of three bedrooms have a Smart TV. Only one con - two of the rooms overlook a road that gets loud and noisy in the morning (only when the windows are open, if windows are shut you don't hear it)

The Hosts - Lisa and Serena were super stars! They're so quick to respond, and very helpful throughout. Thank you both!

Generally - a great place, with great location, and superstar hosts, we would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who would like to visit Cornwall.
